Vision & Aims

At Newton Hill Community School we believe that P.E and Sport play a vital role in the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of children. Physical Education and Sport are important for developing the knowledge, understanding and skills for children to make a positive impact on their own health and well being. Through this we hope to give our children the tools to make informed choices about physical activities throughout their lives and take part in the sports they enjoy, resulting in a lifelong participation of regular exercise.

The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:

  • develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • engage in competitive sports and activities
  • lead healthy, active lives.

At Newton Hill Community School our pupils receive at least 2 hours of high quality well planned P.E each week. Sports taught are varied both during the school day and after school.
